USING THE PROGRAM:

The MAMSinfo-program can be started from diskette or harddisk. On
condition that the current directory refers to the directory of the
program and that the files MAMSE.EXE and MAMS-xxx.UTX are in the same
directory. So, if you want to start the program from disk, follow the
next instructions:
A: and press {ENTER}
MAMSE and press {ENTER}.

If you would indicate "A:\MAMSE", the program could not find the
matching part.

To install MAMSinfo on the harddisk, you can use the Batchfile that can
be found on the disk also. Type INSTALLM and press ENTER (only available
with the diskette-version). You can take the program in your menu only
by yourself.

UNDER WINDOWS:

You can start the MAMSinfo-program under Windows. It will function
properly. Start it up by using the start-function of Windows or make a
program with a pictogram. There is no pictogram inside MAMSinfo. You can
use one of the standard pictograms of Windows.

STEERING THE PROGRAM:

Controlling the program is based on using a few keys. These keys you can
use are always visual at the bottom of the screen. Using a key which is
not represented at the screen is not interfering the course of the
program. Eventual you can work with the mouse by 'clicking' the shown
keys.

MOUSECONTROL:

It's possible you notice something odd by working through the program
with mousecontrol. At the menu you might see some letters or stripes at
the place where the mousecursor stood while starting the menu. You can
prevent this by placing the mousecursor in a black corner at the
openingsscreen before pressing the {ENTER}key. Don't use the mouse after
this. MAMS will adjust this (slight mistake) in the future.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE KEYS:

The significance of the keys is as follows:

HOME: Got to the beginning of the file (or selection-index).

END: Go to the end of the file (or selection-index).

Arrowkeys:
down: Scroll the text one line or shift the selectionstaff
one line below. If the selectionstaff finds itself
below in the 'window', the choice-items will, if
          possible, scroll in this window.
up: Scroll the text one line or shift the selectionstaff
one line aloft. If the selectionstaff finds itself
at the top of the 'window', the choice-items will,
if possible, scroll in this window.

PgDn: Scroll the text or the list with choice-items one
page at a time (=15 lines) down.
PgUp: Scroll the text or the list with choice-items one
page at a time (=15 lines) aloft.

ESC: Break off the function which is active at the mo-
          ment.

F1: Start the SNAP-function (making file).

THE SCREEN:

The screen is roughly subdivided in three parts:
1. The upper 7 lines of the screen give various information
     like:
     - The name of the program with version-indication.
     - The number of the active delivery.
     - The date of the appearance of this instalment.
     - Description of the article active.
     - Your position within a certain article (top/total
       number of lines).
2. The lines 8 up to 24 shape the real carry-out-screen for
the MAMSinfo program. In this part you'll see the texts
     and selection index.
3. Line 25 registers the status of the keys which can be
     used at that moment.

THE KINDS OF MUSIC:

The instalment of MAMSinfo is divide in a few kinds of rockmusic.
Every kind of music contains a number of Bandnames.
Select in the left column the wanted music kind and the right column
will give you some names.
Select the Bandname you want and push ENTER.
The information will be showed.

SLOW SELECTIONSTAFF:

On some computers (386-machines or higher) it can occur that the
selectionstaff reacts somewhat slow on your key-touch. This doesn't
point out to a failure in hardware or installation of the program, but
is caused by the combination of the MAMSinfo-program and a fast
computer. You can change this by turning off the Turbo-button or start
the program with the disk-drive. The MAMSinfo-program is made to use on
very old and modern PC's.

TO STOP THE PROGRAM:

The last 'Item' has the title 'to stop the program'. This is the only
correct way to leave the MAMSinfo-program. Also the 'Reset' key or the
combination of the keys 'CTRL-ALT-DEL' stops the program, but is not
meant to be used.

To prevent mistakes (You can select this item by mistake) it is
necessary to select the only topic within this item. Every other
selection within the main-index breaks off the function 'stop the
program'.

When you have selected the topic, MAMSinfo will close the active
installment.

PRINTING THE INFORMATION:

If you want to print an article, activate the article and press 'F1'.
The file will be copied out of the installment with the current
directory named 'SNAPxxxx.$$$'. 'xxxx' will be replaced by a serial
number. The file can be printed with the MS-Dos Print-command or, if
desired, be edited with a textwriter.

TIP:

Don't forget to give the command 'DEL *.$$$' once in a while to clear
all the snap-files.

When you use the program from diskette, it is possible you don't have
enough space to safe the snap-files. In that case do copy the diskette
to the harddisk and start the program from there.
